Pros: | light sturdy | Cons: | bubble levels are not accurate | | I purchased this tripod because I liked the idea of a pistol grip. It works very well and it's easy to get the shot lined up. I am dissapointed in the bubble levels. They aren't accurate. I called the company and they offered to replace the head but I didn't want to be without my tripod for about a month. Overall I like this tripod

Pros: | Decent build quality, relatively inexpensive, lightweight | Cons: | Video pin on quick release platform | | My old tripod wasn’t sturdy enough to hold a dSLR especially one with long lens. I wanted a fairly inexpensive but decent alternative tripod that would be sturdy and stable enough for my K-x. I like the concept of pistol-grip ball head and after doing a little bit of research, I ended up purchasing this Sunpak PP6600PG at Best-Buy for ~$50.
Build quality is relatively decent and doesn't have that generic feel to it. Pistol grip is virtually identical to the Slik AF1100E. Legs seem sturdy and easily adjustable with simple flip-lever locks that firmly hold legs in place. Tripod has a total of five bubble levels which are more than enough to ensure accurate level adjustments. The quick release plate does have a video pin which is not an issue but I removed it anyway. I didn’t like the idea it possibly scratching the bottom of the camera.
I mostly use this tripod outdoors during vacation or camping trips and have been more than satisfied especially with the pistol-grip ball head. Legs are sturdy and stable enough to hold my K-x with 55-300mm long lens. Tripod is small, light and easy carry around or even strap on the side of my backpack.
For light to medium duty use, in my opinion this Sunpak PP6600PG is an excellent starter tripod and more than capable enough to meet the requirements of most hobbyists (like myself) and or serious-amateur photographers alike.
