Pros: | Universal use (120~240VAC / 12-24VDC w/adapter included) | Cons: | Substandard build quality | | I was looking for x4 AA/AAA charger that I could use in-car for long road trips. I saw this Targus on Amazon for $8 plus shipping and thought for the price I should give it try.
This is a very basic series type rapid charger that only allows charging batteries in pairs (x2 or x4). There are two indicator lights in front that turn red while charging, then green when battery is fully charged. Unit has a flip-up prong at the back and plugged directly on wall outlet.
Build quality is what to be expected for a charger under $10. The flip-up AC prong has already failed internally but fortunately I was able to fix it.
For a temporary back up charger, this isn’t really bad. The charger will do what it’s supposed to do….charge batteries. Unfortunately, the substandard build quality and type of charging method (series-type-rapid-charge), which is particularly bad for batteries, I cannot recommend this product to anyone looking for a primary charger.
