Vello Off-Camera TTL Flash Cord for Pentax Cameras
supersize

Description:
The 3' Vello Off-Camera TTL Flash Cord provides creative photographers with the ability to remotely fire Pentax flashes with P-TTL capabilities. Removing the flash from the camera's hot shoe allows the photographer to create unique and dramatic lighting styles that are not possible with a traditional shoe-mounted strobe. This coiled cord measures 3', which is enough distance to accommodate hand-held lighting styles, or when keeping the flash mounted on a compact flash bracket. Also, off-camera lighting reduces the harsh shadows commonly encountered with direct on-camera flashes and gives your photographs a more natural look.

One side of the TTL cable fits directly into the camera's hot shoe to ensure that all of the camera's exposure data is maintained. The other side can be attached to any stand, tripod, or device with a standard 1/4"-20 threaded stud or flash shoe mount, and the shoe has a locking knob to ensure your equipment is secure.

Pros: inexpensive, high quality, metal where it counts
Cons: 1/4-20 thread on flash hotshoe not very deep

Very good off-camera TTL cord, I run mine with a stroboframe flash bracket. A 3' coiled cord is perfect.

The hotshoes that mount to the camera and flash are metal and are solid. Both include the locking pin (either male or female) to lock onto the camera or flash. The camera-side hotshoe can release with just a spring-loaded button - no lever or lock ring. Very nice.

Right now the cord is fairly stiff on mine, hoping it eases up a bit as it wears in. The stiff cord instills me with confidence that the cable will last. As with any cable like this, treat the terminations gently and you'll have years of trouble-free service. Also, the 1/4-20 thread on the flash end is not very deep - with my stroboframe, the screw bottoms out before tightening up fully. I need to either use a 1/4-20 to hotshoe adapter (that ships with most stroboframes) or build up my stroboframe with some foam rubber or gaffer's tape.
