Pentax K-1 II and K-1 Firmware v2.00 Released

Ricoh Imaging has released firmware updates for the Pentax K-1 and Pentax K-1 Mark II, and separately for the K-3 III.

This series of updates a new custom image preset called "Kyushu".  This preset delivers slightly muted colors designed for pleasing images of autumn landscapes.

In addition, a new premium feature called "Grad ND" has been added.  This currently costs 11,000 yen and is only available in Japan.  The feature is a type of multi-exposure that simulates a graduated neutral density filter; read more about it on the forum.

Interestingly, both the K-1 and K-1 II now share the same designation for the latest firmware, however different update files are needed for each camera:

Official Pentax K-1 and K-1 II v2.00 firmware notes:

  • Added limited function [Grad ND Shooting].

A special activation key (release key) obtained from a website or other source is required to activate the limited functions.
Note: The Grad ND Shooting activation key issuance is a service that will be launched first in Japan. The launch of this service outside of Japan has not yet been determined.

  • Added custom image Special Edition [KYUSHU].

It can be used when attaching the following compatible lenses.
    HD PENTAX FA 43mmF1.9 Limited
    HD PENTAX-DA 70mmF2.4 Limited
    HD PENTAX-DA 40mmF2.8 Limited
    HD PENTAX-DA 21mmF3.2 AL Limited

  • Improved stability for general performance.
