Like other Topaz plugins, Topaz B&W Effects requires a compatible host program to run, such as Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom, Apple Aperture, iPhoto, Corel PaintShop, Irfanview, and others.  Topaz also offers its own standalone program called PhotoFXLab.
