The next World Pentax Day is coming up on Saturday, June 23rd, so be sure to mark your calendars!  This event is open to all our members and is a great way to spend your weekend taking pictures or meeting up with other photographers in your area!  Once you're done shooting, show us your part of your world by uploading your favorite photos to the World Pentax Day gallery!

Last World Pentax Day, we also announced that we would be publishing a book featuring some of our members' favorite photos from that event.  We are happy to say that the book is now in final editing stages, and will be available via Blurb.com later this month, so stay tuned!  We will also be giving away a few copies of the book to the photographers featured within it.

Giveaway Winners Announced!

Over $1000 in prizes for 8 authors

We are very happy to announce the winners of our 2011 Holiday Giveaway, who will soon be receiving over $1000 in prizes sponsored by B&H Photo!

All members who entered this giveaway submitted a photo article on a topic of their choice.  Our editorial staff then picked over a dozen of semafinalist articles which were showcased on our homepage over the course of two months, and then voted upon by our members.  The winning articles are listed below!

First Place: Making the Most of Long Exposure Handhelds In our winning article, forum member Heie shows off how to properly hold a camera by applying military techniques.  We're not surprised that our members loved this article, as even Gizmodo picked up on it!
Second Place: Old School Ideas for Digital Photography Our second-place winner, k9lover, tells you how to apply various techniques from the film era to enhance your digital photos.
Third Place: A Photographer's Guide to Perspective Distortion In third place came a fantastic article by forum member DAZ which talks about what perspective distortion is, and how to take it into account when taking photos.

These members will receive a $500, $150, and $100 B&H give card, respectively.  Below are our five runners-up, each of whom will receive a $50 B&H gift card:

Holiday Giveaway Voting Phase

In late November of last year, we lauched a holiday giveaway, featuring over $1000 in prizes sponsored by B&H. In order to enter, members wrote helpful photographic articles, the contest closed to submissions at the end of January. Now, the time has come to determine the winners of our contest!

The procedure will consist of two phases, the first of which has already been carried out:

• Phase 1: Our staff will rate all submissions on a subjective scale of 1-5 based on quality, thouroughness, and relevance
• Phase 2: Top-scoring articles will be published in the member article section of our web site, and featured on the homepage.  Once all articles have been published, are readers will vote for the one they found most helpful, and the top 8 articles will be the winners!

World Pentax Day - Uploads Close Saturday!

On February 4th, we hosted the World Pentax Day event, and since then, we've seen some 1,400 photos uploaded, making this our second largest event to date!

We know, however, that many of those who participated in World Pentax Day haven't had the chance to upload their photos yet. We'd therefore like to remind our users that the World Pentax Day gallery will close at the end of Saturday, February 18th, Eastern time.  Upload your photos before then!

Exclusive CP+ Pentax Footage

K-01 demo, product questions, and the booth itself

We're proud to present some footage from last week's CP+ show featuring views from the Pentax booth and a few questions about the K-01 and the new 560mm lens.  In the video, you will also see footage of the entire Pentax lens lineup and a live K-01 autofocus demonstration.

We are also currently working on completing the video of our exlusive interview with Hiraku Kawauchi of Pentax, which took place that same day.  We expect to have the full interview up on Thursday, so stay tuned for insight into future Pentax products and plans! The transcript will be published together with the video, rather than separately as previously announced.
