Ricoh GR II US Price Reduction
New MSRP of $699.95

On July 8, Ricoh Imaging Americas dropped the US suggested retail price for Ricoh GR II by $100, down to $699.95. While the GR II has yet to start shipping, the first pre-orders are expected to be filled later this month. Some sources point to a release date of July 17.
Users who have already pre-ordered the GR II in the US should expect their dealers to provide a refund/adjustment of the difference in price.
As of the writing of this post, the UK price of the GR II remains unchanged at £599.95. The same applies to the European distributor price of €799 (including VAT).
This move most likely comes as a response to mixed community feedback and the lack of early adopters of the GR II, as this new model is virtually identical to its predecessor save for the addition of Wi-Fi and NFC. The original GR continues to be available for $599 or less in the US— arguably a much more attractive offer.

The current generation of the Ricoh GR was launched in mid-2013 and has enjoyed great popularity ever since. The GR received praise for its pocketable form factor, DSLR-grade image quality, and extensive customizability. It packs a 16-megapixel APS-C sensor without an anti-aliasing filter and a sharp 18mm F2.8 prime lens.
If you have overlooked this camera due to its niche status or lack of the Pentax logo, it could be a good idea to take a second look. See what makes the Ricoh GR so special by continuing on to our in-depth GR review!
