"Contemplation" by candid

First of all, my sincere thanks to everyone who nominated and voted for my photo in December 2019's "Open Theme" contest. This is not the first monthly contest in which I participated. Before that, my photos won twice and were among the runners-up three times. But looking at the level of quality in the past two months' contests I did not hope too much to win.

Now on to how I created this picture:

The Making of "Lake Kilstivatnet"

How the winning photo of the "Boats" contest was made

First of all, my sincere thanks to everyone who nominated and voted for my photo in April 2018's "Boats" contest. Now on to how I did take this picture.

This shot was taken on 5 August 2013 in Eidsdal, Norway. The Lake Kilstivatnet (Lake of Kilsti) is an idyllic and easily accessible one, 15 min walk from Kilsti farm on private forest road. The photo was taken during a short pause, when the rain that went all day, briefly stopped.

The Making of "Racing against the Sunset"

Winner of the January, 2017 "Sunrise/Sunset" photo contest

"Racing against the Sunset"

First of all, my sincere thanks to everyone who nominated and voted for my photo in January 2017's "Sunrise/Sunset" contest.

Now on to how I took and processed this picture:

Most of my photos are taken while on vacation and I have never travelled with the specific purpose of taking photos. I just travel to different places and take pictures of things that I find interesting and inspiring.

This image was taken on 22 January 2013 in Bagan, Myanmar. It is home to the largest and densest concentration in the world of Buddhist temples, pagodas, stupas, and ruins with many dating from the 11th and 12th centuries.
