| | Pentax Optio WPi Review
I had attained a used Pentax Optio WPi from a garage sale my girlfriend attended and it came in a lot of ten cameras for only tens dollars. This included camera cases to hold them. It took a number of months get a battery charger that could recharge the cameras battery. Once his was bought as an early Christmas present, I charged up the battery to see if this camera was working or not.
I was glad to see that it was in good working order! I started to try the camera on in its different modes of operating conditions. The first thing I liked was the good overall image quality. The pictures are sharp and offer good contrast in the stock default mode. The other item I like is the solid build quality of the camera itself. It is on the small side but I can get a good feel in holding it. The controls are on the stiff side but this is due to the waterproof body design.
The menu design was a bit of a challenge at first seeing that I am used to the menu set-up on my Fuji digital cameras but I got used to the Pentax menu in a short amount of time. It was nice to see the many different modes the camera can be used in. The area I did not like was the bundling of the self-timer in with the drive modes. My Pentax D-slr runs into the same problem.
After taking about 80 pictures, I am impressed with this little camera. It will make for a great travel anywhere camera. The only real problem will be the battery life of the older battery that came with the camera. I do not expect to last as long as a new battery. I am looking forward adding another Pentax in to my fleet of digital cameras. It will go well along side my Pentax K-m.
I would recommend this camera to others. Hey can be found on E-bay or at garage sales and thrift shops. Just try to see if it is good working order if possible first.

Pros: | IQ is excellent. I still am amazed at some of the shots I have from this little wonder | Cons: | none | New or Used: New
| | Bought this from Wolf camera as a cheap digital to take backpacking. After the first trip I realized the IQ was even better then the much more expensive fuji that I was using. This became my go to camera for anything I could shoot within its focal range. Still use it to this day to go to the beach, take to the pool and it always goes as a backup with my k-5 on all backpacking trips.
