Older K mount auto focus lenses , which ones are recommended?

Hi all

I have a few nice Takumars ( 28, 35 and 55) , but I would also like to pick up some decent AF primes for my new K-X , age is not an issue, so what primes in th 50-105 range would you recommend that would work with that body?

cheers

AF primes ... in the 50-105 range
All AF Pentax lenses in this range are very good.

E.g.
FA50/1.4
FA77/1.8
FA85/1.4
FA100/2.8

Hi, thanks for the information, but was leaning towards more of the early 80s autofocus lenses, or did they even make auto lenses then?

The F series lens were made in the 80's.

The F 50 1.7 is very popular (there is also a harder to find 1.4 version), the F 100 2.8 macro is hard to find but well liked by those who have it, and the F 135 2.8 is also well regarded.

The F series started around 1987.
There was only one earlier AF lens, from 1981, which had a built-in AF motor already!

Wieland is correct on both statements.
No AF before late 80s with the pictured exception.
And all F/FA lenses from the range you have given are excellent choice.
Unfortunatelly there isn't many F/FA lenses to fit between 50-105mm
Here they are:
F50/1.4
F50/1.7
F50/2.8 macro
F85/2.8 soft
F100/2.8 macro

FA50/1.4
FA50/1.7
FA50/2.8 macro
FA77ltd
FA*85/1.4
FA85/2.8 soft
FA100/2.8 macro
FA100/3.5 macro

if you are willing to push the limits to 135 there are two more excellent lenses available:
F&FA135/2.8

I'll add 4 to the list that have been overlooked.

F 28mm f2.8 which imho is a lot better than the optically different FA 28.

I'm not big into zooms but these are compact and pretty good.

F 35-70mm f3.5-4.5
F 35-135mm f3.5-4.5
FA 28-70mm f4

If you also need a telephoto zoom, SMC-F 70-210mm is also a very good lens. I use one on my K-X and the results are fantastic!

I have an f-50:1.7 which I can recommend highly. I think that with a K-x you don't need any faster for most work (it is fine for interior portraits for example.)
