Thanks to Fotopete and Roy

Hi Guys,

Thanks for pointing out the 70-210 to me. I plan on purchasing one this week and will post some photos after I get one. Is there anything I should watch out for when looking for one of these?

Thanks,
Ken

The Takumar-F version is one to be avoided. Not that it is terrible, but the SMC-F version is much better.

Thanks,

haha. yea try to find an "SMC Pentax-A 70-210/4". Its a very good lens.

I have the slightly nerfed CPC Phase II 70-200/4 (made by cosimcar). Its the same design as the SMC-A 70-210 complete with the built in lens hood minus the SMC and 10mm off the tele-end.

They are often marketed on ebay as being 'clones' of the SMC-A 70-210. Don't go near these lenses. I've actually had the Fivestar and it was very soft and flare was really bad.

Takumar A 70-200/4
Cosmicar 70-200/4
Tou/Fivestar 70-200/4
Pentax-A 70-200/4

These cheaper ones don't have the built in lens hood and they are of telemacro design. (You get to focus closer at 200mm.) The CPC PII and the SMC-A both enter macro range at their wide end (70mm).
