What is this?

Anybody besides me notice anything strange about this lens? Sure looks like a K-mount lens to me but I don't think I've ever seen a K-mount Super-Takumar. It's an auction on e-bay that only has a few minutes left.

Maybe there's an M42-->K-mount adapter attached to it?

That is not a super tak.. Where is the A/M ring? It has a rubberized grip instead of the metal one. Looks to me like somebody replaced the retaining ring on an M50 f1.4 for some reason.

Pentax Lens Review Database - SMC/S-M-C/Super Takumar 50mm F1.4 Lens Reviews

I would say whoever got it for $69 though didn't do too bad.

My thinking also but for some reason, I didn't think those rings were the same size.

Yep, I got an excellent M50 f1.4 the other day on a regular ME for $57 while in another auction a M50 f1.4 in the same condition sold for $96. Another instance of getting the lens cheaper on a camera than by itself.

They both have 49mm filter rings if I am not mistaken. No reason why the threads would actually be different.

It might be the only interchangeable part. Hopefully this is true for the buyer. I would be a little suspicious of it. Then again, it could have happened decades ago in a camera repair shop.

I did this for fun. No actual lenses were harmed in this image:

That is an M series lens. You can tell by the white bump that lines up with the lens release so that you can mount your lens without looking. The release has moved on the DSLR bodies, and it doesn't work there.

That's an SMC Pentax-M 50/1.4 with its front ring replaced as Jeff suggested.

P.S. the lens on the P3 is the M 50/1.7. Same story I suppose.
