Optically similar, both extremely well regarded, one weather resistant. It's your call

Love the WR, but I prefer the one with aperture ring so I can use it on other system, if needed.

You might want to read the recent issue of Popular Photography: a review in there on the 100wr. They loved it. Their only complaint was the whiny motor. Ironically, they wished the lens had the Pentax SDM

the original D-FA is an amazing lens that I always wanted and not even for macro any think I saw coming from this lens was stunning.

if the optics are the same then I do not worry...

I will post some pics when I will get it.

I love that it looks like an LTD lens

Good move! Though there wouldn't really be a bad one in this case!

I have the WR and love it. The rounded aperture blades pushed me over, though I could've gotten a non-WR for much cheaper locally--I love the bokeh from the DA*55.

Both Frank and Fourmix have done great comparisons/reviews:

thank you guys!
well the reason I am with pentax is one , the lenses .

can you really get disappointed from any lens that says Pentax on it.

your options are always in these cases either good or really really good

It depends on your expectations.

I doubt any of the K, M, or DA would disapoint. Some of the A, F or FA zooms might. The primes from those lineups will not let you down.

In short, any Pentax prime will be good to stellar. Any macro Pentax lens will be amazing. Go with budget and features.
