It would do exactly that, at the bottom and nowhere else.

Maybe its one of those DA15 ltd ULTRA.

Or maybe he's using a C*non in the wrong forum.

(only half kidding - none of the pentax primes are anywhere close to $1300, even the 16-50 isn't that much...)

Depends where you are. They ARE that much in Australia.... (and the OP is in Balmain, which is part of Sydney)

See:

Pentax Lens DA 15mm f/4 ED AL LTD - Digital Camera Warehouse Australia

That's the DA 15mm for $Aus1330.....

And the 77mm Ltd is about the same price here.

Just spent $1325.00 on a wide angle lens and I'm not impressed. What am I doing wrong!

I took a photo standing in the same spot with my normal lens and the wide angle lens. With the wide angle lens I got an extra window blind in. Not much difference at all. And when I do take photos I get an awful shadow at the bottom of most of my photos.

Anyone else find the same?
Do you really know, what you are talking about? How can you seriously expect any informed answer, if all the basic info is lacking (as wildman and others already noted):
– what lens
- what shooting condition (camera flash?, distance to subject)
– example images of what went wrong in your perception

Give us more information and you will get helpful answers.

I wish some of you guys would cut him some slack:

It was me who sold the OP here my Vivitar 35 F4 for $1325, and told him he could return it for a $995 refund price, taking into account the $330 usage/testing fee.

I wouldn't hold your breath for any more info from the OP as they only have only 3 posts since mar 09 (with 3 similar questions).

This one: https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-slr-lens-discussion/94917-confused...gle-lense.html
might provided some insight into the topic as it relates to the confusion experienced prior to purchasing the said "disappointing" $1325 UWA lens.
They did get some useful advice from some of the same guys in this thread.

Hi Pete, the $1330 one at DCW is old stock from when the $A was down to 0.60 USD (thats what they told me). I dont think they'll be shifting anytime soon. I saw it somewhere else here for about $800.

If it's indeed the 35mm that OP is talking about, it's not really a wide angle on a APSc body. The only other lens OP talked about in another thread is the 50-200mm, so if OP compares it with the 50mm I can imagine that OP is a bit disappointed with its field of view.

@Steve - yes, I thought it must have been a holdover from those exchange rates days.

I got my 35 and 15 Ltds from Adorama though - very quick, and good prices with current exchange rates.

I don't suppose the original poster is even following this thread, or he would surely have replied by now with a bit more information.

I was just joking. I didn't even know a Vivitar 35 4 ever existed.

I made up an example of a lens that I thought would sell for like 10 bucks.

Elvis has made exactly 3 posts, each starting a thread and leaving the building.

His first post/thread asked what lens would be a wide angle. He went from not knowing what a wide angle is, to spending $1,325 on one.

Or one of those people that assume that the more money you spend, the better a photographer you become?

Never mind, this thread was good fun while it lasted.
