This question has been asked and answered a million times.

You can look at this thread:

or you can read the instruction manual that came with your camera.

It's hard to go wrong buying old Pentax glass.

That is as long as it's clean and fully functioning.

Are you buying it from a shop or a person? There are a few things to look out for.

i've got one of these and it's probably the most underrated lenses out there. it's sharp(fairly) wide open and very good from f5.6. it works very well with a 1.4x converter. it's also lite weight compared to the f4 A70-210. how much do they want??? you'll enjoy this lens..
since i have the 70-210 and also a mint 80-200 let me know if you would like this one.

I have used the lens only in Manual mode so far. I 'm not sure about whether it can be used in the other modes.

I believe this particular shot was at the top end of the range (at or near 200 mm). The exif information says 0 mm, there is nothing in the lens to communicate with the camera body...

This shot was taken in my basement, zoomed in (200 mm) on some scrapbooking stuff about 15 feet away. No flash, tripod w/ 2-second delay, ISO 200, 1/2 second exposure. No post-processing except resizing in Irfanview to 800x532. I don't recall what the f-stop was set to.
