I like Ned's choice. I would be somewhat hard pressed to decide if I wanted the 70 or the 77. I expect I would be happy with either one.
I like the 15LTD a lot more than I thought I would, and the 35LTD is a gem.

I actually took these three lenses on a trip this weekend, plus the 31 for low light.

BTW: My everyday walk-around on that trip was the DA 35 mounted on the K7 (or Kx) and a DA 15 in my left vest pocket and a DA 70 in the right. My vest is a black Travel Vest from SCOTTEVEST/SeV - Men's Travel Vest with Hidden Pockets ? Our Best Travel Vest also works as a Photographers Vest with many Vest Pockets and a Gadget Vest - Men's Black Vest - Multi-Pocket Travel Vest - 22 Pocket Travel Vest - Cloth so there was no need for a camera/lens day-bag.
Hey, thanks for the link!!!!! I've been looking for something like that for a long time.

In Ned's latest blogpost, he asks which three lenses people thought he would bring to photograph the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, Hawaii. The correct answer was quickly guessed:
  • DA15mm ltd
  • DA35mm ltd macro
  • FA77mm ltd
To me, this seems like the ideal all-round, compact prime kit, suitable for most photographic purposes. What's your opinion?
Seems quite solid to me! It's only missing an extreme-telephoto, but from 3 years' experience now, I can say that one is not typically necessary in your bag. I might end up using a similar setup this summer, with the FA 77/1.8 swapped for the 85/1.4.

I would switch DA 35mm macro to FA 43, because that's what I have
I'll bring my Raynox 250 snap-on macro lens too to be used with either FA 43 or FA77, when macro is needed.

I'm actually a little surprised by the choice of the 77, given the others are all DA ltd lenses.

I'd love the 15/35/77 combo ... definitely compact and stellar quality.

Although I'd like something a bit longer than the 77 ... and that's where I'd substitute the 77 with my Tammy 90.

Although a spread like 15/43/77 would be a better coverage (but you miss out on either the 31/35 amazing lenses).

Decisions, decisions.

I'd add the Tamron 1.4x TC just to add extra reach for the 77Ltd when needed.
It's so small and doesn't affect the IQ except 1 stop loss but will give me 108mm/2.8 Ltd

If I had the Tammy 90, I would be inclined to go DA 15/40/70 + Tammy 90 for the Macro. That keeps the size to a minimum for the DA lenses.
