Sigma Lens repaint

So I have an older Sigma 70-200 2.8 lens I really like but the paint (or maybe coating is a better word) is flaking off and pretty bad. It is just cosmetic but kind of annoys me. So I was wondering is there a way to get it repainted/coated?

Don't have pictures but will post some soon.

Even if Even if you goEven if you got somebody to do this, or tried doing it yourself, I don't think the lens would look anything close to new, which is why I believe it might be redundant.

You must've used it a fair bit. I have an original version, and I'd call it in very good condition, and I've used it heaps.

Just remove the rest with duct tape.

How about covering it with one of those neoprene protective lens coat kits, or similar?

Perhaps inner-tube.
