Cheap 200/4 comparison

My junior baseball lenses arrived, 1) a $5 Makinon 200/4.5, 52 mm thread with integral hood. It was in good condition except some eager beaver had polished visible swirls on the outer coating.
2) a SMC K 200/4, 58 mm thread which is in almost perfect condition.
I ran a test in Manual, iso 200 Raw 6MB 3040 by 2024 pixels in Picasa 3 on a Dell 17 inch 1280 by 1024.
At f5.6 the ist DL picked the focus and exposure 250th on a garage at 15 metre distance.
Using Picasa zoom to maximum 400 %, both lenses had visually equal sharpness at the frame centre on the lettering of a cfl lamp.
At the corner of the frame there was quite a difference between the 2 lenses on 2 mm guttering mesh in same plane as the cfl lamp. The SMC had about 0.5 mm of blur on the edges of the mesh while the Makinon had the whole mesh visibly blurred.
(A SMC A 50/1.4 at f5.6 was "very" sharp all across the frame)
The camera JPG *** ( about 650 kB) in Gnome viewer shows almost no difference visually , up to "100%" zoom, between the $5 Makinon and the SMC K 200/4.
I am all new to 200 mm.It is not forgiving, but the occasional good shots are really pleasing.
Last night I shot the game at f16 iso 200 using the Makinon, shutter about 250th. DOF was mostly OK, but there was unpleasant blur on the players' moving hands and feet. I will try iso 800 next. Also the ist DL with 200 mm is quite difficult for me to manually focus because the green dot at the bottom of the viewfinder is hardly visible into the sun.
I will try the ist DS which has the proper Pentax viewfinder also a bright red flash in the centre frame when focussed.

200 mm f2.8

This was shot at f4 about 15 minutes before dark in our local park where this guy sometimes hangs out. First time with this lens and I am an amateur but this is not too bad. I think the lens helped a lot. Not to bad for and off brand 3rd party Soligor lens from the sixties maybe?
