I like the survey, but there is one glaring omission:

The selection of "I don't own this because I would buy a 3rd party lens over this one."
+1

Usually a 3rd-party lens is less expensive, which would be fine with us non-discriminating types.

If you don't own the 3rd party equivalent yet, you are forced to check off "I do not own it and have no interest" which in no way tells us why the person doesn't want it.

This omission would greatly help in seeing if people have 3rd party equivalent lenses on their wishlists over their Pentax counterparts. Too many lenses can get lumped into the "I have no interest" category without an accurate reason, and without knowing if it's because better 3rd party lenses are the factor.
Good catch! I've added this to the revised list in case there will ever be a second iteration of this survey.

Kevin, thanks for the reply. I understand. No survey is perfect, but I think you did a good job. However, I am still waiting for FF, and bypassing DAs, no matter how long it takes...

Couldn't agree more.

+1!

For most of the lens, I put down "No I do not own this, nor am I interested" mostly because they are not FF. I might consider some of the DA Ltd/* that are FF compatible tho (DA 55 1.4!)

Well, hmph. I missed this entirely.

Just in case someone at Pentax happens to read the thread, I'm another who is waiting on 36x24mm "full" frame before getting back into digital. Until then, I hang out over in the film section (which is why I missed the survey), happier with the vintage stuff because of the dramatically better ratio of image-plane size to body bulk.

That's both for DOF control and those lovely viewfinders.

In the survey, is an "upgrade" an f4 lens (like 16-45) going to f2.8? Or is that just a different lens?

I found the survey inapplicable to me, as I only use "heritage analogue" equipment.

Most of my gear is manual focus and some (only a little) is autofocus.

Most of my camera bodies are manual and for film.

I have nos DSLR of any kind and only a couple of digicams.

It's a pity that the older lenses/bodies weren't included in the survey.

C'est la vie!

Why wait: buy any film cam and get FF immediately!

I would say that is a different lens entirely.

Then (imho) you should also avoid the "DA" denomination!

I would consider buying
# 135mm f1.8
# 400mm f4/5.6
as (D)FA(*)s.

I have a 645N and 67II, both larger than FF ... in frame size and weight.

Kevin, good stuff and really hope to get to see the result of the survey. Btw, a bit late to suggest this, but I am really hoping to see the SDM teleconverter that was dropped from Pentax roadmap.

Great initiative and I'm looking forward to the results, but the option I missed for half the mentioned lenses is "Not interested, I have a Pentax A/M/K equivalent of this lens"
