Nikon lens on k10D Body?

Okay I have a K10d which I am just beginning to understand and love. What I don't love is how much Pentax lenses are. Can I get an adapter and put a Nikon lens on a Pentax body. I have searched the forum and can't find an answer. Will I have to go to manual focus or will af work with an adapter? I am looking at a 50mm 1.4. Thanks

See the existing threads on using Niikon lenses. Basically, an adapter either comprsomises IQ, changes focal length, lose infinity focus, or some combination of these. Some Nikon lenses can sort of be mounted without an adapter, although it's not a perfect fit. in any case, definitely no AF. So no way is that going to be a cheaper option. In fact, even AF 50/1.4's for Nikon are no cheaper than for Pentax.

You gotta be pretty crazy about a Nikon Lens to jam it onto a pentax camera cuz like Marc said, its only a bare fit meaning your lens might fall off if you get too excited and take your hand off the lens.

Conditions to cheat nikon lenses :

1. Your camera must have a Crippled KAF/2/3 mount.

2. The Nikon Lens cannot be a G type unless you like shooting at f22.

Caveat : For AI/AI-S/AF lenses, you probably have to sand/dremel/snap off the AI Lips on the aperture ring (probably nuturing the lens for anything but manual metering on nikon bodies)

Most lenses will twist on (provided that aperture lips have been sanded off) about 2mm. Drop the lens on approximately centerline marking with red dot on body mount (coincidence?) and twist up until the lens starts turning into the mount and grips.

A small knock may take the lens off the camera so keep one hand on the lens at all times lol.

A number of non-ai have been reported to be more cooperative than others like the 50/1.4, 55/1.2, 55/3.5micro.

but thers plenty of good Pentax 50s which will do you just fine!

Check the studio and camera accessories forum. There is a thread with links photos etc. In a nutshell there is an adaptor that is a 1.25 X teleconverter which leaves uou in stopped down mode. There is some ghostimg wide open but nicely sharp by f4. Due to the magnification it is only good really for telephotos
