FA 28/2.8, DA 14/2.8 sigma 30/1.4, FA 35/2, and FA*24/2 are a few that are popping into my mind. I have all the FA's and they're simply great. See here for more lens info: Pentax Lens Review Database - Lens Listings

After browsing the lens reviews, as suggested by Adam, check out the long-running thread (all JSherman's fault) about the DA15mm here:

DA21, Sigma 20 and Sigma 24. Pentax M20/4 if you want to shoot manual, but would hardly pay for it for the price of an AF wide angle.

Fast Sigmas: 20mm/24mm/28mm all 1.8 and 10mm/15mm at 2.8

Pentax: older K/M/A lenses like 28/2.0; FA 24/2.0 and the others already mentioned by Adam.

From my own experience I can recommend the FA 35/2 above the older M 35/2, which is not as sharp. The FA 31/1.8 is a wonderful lens with beautiful rendering. The FA 24/2.0 is often underrated, but a great lens in real life, which's merrits have been discussed just recently here.

One lens I nearly forgot is the older Kiron 24/2.0, which I have in K-mount. Smaller than the FA, but nice built and quite good optically.

Since you are shooting digital I would forget anything above 24mmm as it's not really wide IMO. Even 24 would probably still only clossify as moderate wide. There you have choice of K/A24/2.8 (good lenses if you don't mind MF) or FA*24/2 somewhat rare and pricy. Then A/FA20/2.8 (again do you need AF? but FA is apparently better lens) and then only DA14/2.8 which the only trully wide fast Pentax lens at the moment.
Tamron had 14/2.8. Sigma has 20/24/1.8 somebody suggested the 15/2.8 (I'm just not sure if it ain't FE) there used to be corrected 14/2.8 by Sigma and 24/2.8 in both MF & AF version

Why a FAST wide angle?
The m28/3.5 and K28/3.5 are good wide open while most 2.8 lenses have to be stopped down for good IQ.
If it really has to be fast lens the FA35/2.0 is good at 2.8 and even wide open but actually on a digital body not a wide angle for most people.
I owned also the Sigma 24/2.8 and was happy with it until I purcased the DA16-45.
The 2.8 28mm lenses of Pentax never impressed me.
If money was not really a factor my first choice would be the m28/2.0.

a good fast wide angle would be the K28/2 followed by the M28/2. only choices you've got for Pentax. price would not be an issue though but rather on how to acquire one. however, I would agree that a 28/3.5 would be the best choice for a 28mm.

Thanks for all that replied. A 10mm would be fab. Considering the 1.5x anything greater than 25mm wouldn't really be wide anymore. I need something that is sharp, sharp, sharp, and not soft wide open. It seems there are several issues with soft when wide open. And I do need autofocus. I have the DA* 16mm - 50mm, but its not as sharp as I would like at f2.8!!

My copy of the DA14mm 2.8 was razor sharp, amazingly sharp even wide open. I loved that lens! I just wanted it to be 1/3 the size it is ;D The indoor & evening shots I got with it were exceptional - the DA14 isn't talked about much, but it has some really devoted fans and I see why It's on my list of lenses I will, without a doubt, purchase again.
