Pentax-M 300mm F4 GREEN Star?

Pentax-M * 300mm F4 Green Star IF Tele Lens - (item 260145715352 end time Aug-09-07 18:15:00 PDT)

Anybody ever heard of a Green Star? And what about those scratches on the lens? Are they a deal breaker?
I don't have the money to bid on this item but I'm just wondering.

Those scratchs look pretty bad. They might not show up in photos depending on how far the subject is + aperture, but they'll be sure to cause extra flare/reflections. $400 is too much for a lens in this shape...even though it is an M*.

The star lenses are Pentax' good line and this would be catch if it were in good shape. But, looking at those scratches, I'd have to take a pass. Any time you were at F8 or higher, they would start having an effect on the image quality. You'd be better off spending the money on a Tamron super-zoom (and I don't mean that in a good way)

I've got to agree with Eric. I have the A* version of this lens. It has the same optics, and it is a really fine performer. Those scratches will pretty much ruin the IQ though.
