31 Limited: post warranty repair pics

I'm so happy to have my 31mm 1.8 Limited back! I took a few snap shots around the house just to make sure the lens is back up to specs. I'm heading out to the coast tomorrow, so I'll give it a proper workout over the weekend.

But, my first impressions are that it's not nailing focus like it did before. Even with my sloppy center-focus then recompose technique, it used to consistently nail focus, even wide-open. I'm feeling like there's some back-focus now. Or, perhaps it's now calibrated correctly and my K10D is off. I dunno...

Anways... here are a few of the better snaps...

Not yet fried green tomatoes...

Great punchy pics! I like the tomatoes shot alot. (are they tomatoes?)

What happened to your lens? I guess back focus is a big issue if you paid like a couple hundred, but for personally, as long as IQ and the Limited factor ain't compromised, I'd just give the focus ring a little nudge. ;-)

(...or you could send it back to Pentax USA and get to it fixed again...)

After a couple months of very happy use, one day it stopped reliably focusing at infinity. So, I sent it back to Pentax. I felt sort of naked without this lens, like I lost my photographic voice.. yeah, I have some other good ones, but this one just feels so right in front of the camera. So, I won't be sending it back to Pentax unless I really find a problem (and, it's just been a few minutes playing with it).

Yes.... those are tomatoes. I'm not sure which ones they are... we planted 3 varieties. I think they're the little yellows.

Nice to have this gem back. Even it could back focus, as long as it performs consistently and you could predict it under certain situation. It is still a useful tool

I love this lens and I love the hood as well.

Cheers

James
