What about voigtlaender?

Hi guys,

I want to replace my huge Tamron 10-24 by something like that:
Voigtlaender - 15 mm / F 4,5 Super Wide Heliar - NEW!
or that:
Voigtlaender - 15 mm / F 4,5 Super Wide Heliar
But what about the compatibility of theses lenses and my k20d?
And what about this lens: optical quality...

Any ideas?

Thanks

This is a nice lens, but is made to fit Leica M bayonet. I don't believe that it can be adapted to fit your K20D. Other forum members, please feel free to contradict if you know otherwise.

If that lens tickles your fancy, have you heard of this one: Pentax Lens Review Database - SMC Pentax-DA 15mm F4 ED AL Limited Lens Reviews ?

The old M-39 mount version of the voigtländer is almost half the price of the k-mount 15mm but it appears to have a horrible protusion from the mount side. But, unlike it's german counterpart the pentax has built-in filters. If I'm not mistaken there's one in the marketplace for 800...

But if you're complaining about size, how about the DA Limited 15mm? That's a beauty of a lens and really small. (And you can use 49mm filters) I want to use 15mm UWA mostly with film so it's not high in my wishlist. The m42/K 15mm on the other hand....

DA 15mm ltd sounds good but:

In this view that unique petal-shaped sliding lens hood is shown fully
retracted. However it still protrudes past the filter thread, which may
make use of square filter systems (such as Cokin or Lee) rather
problematic. Unscrewing polarizers can also be quite difficult, as
there's limited space to grip them.
I want to use my lens with Lee filter holder...

You can put one empty 49mm filter (a filter with no glass) to get out of the hood area. It will vignette a little in the extreme corners as far as i know.
Take a look at this reviews, specially Andrew Faires one:
Pentax Lens Review Database - SMC Pentax-DA 15mm F4 ED AL Limited Lens Reviews

He talks about that in there:
QuoteOriginally posted by Andrew Faires, DA 15 review:
[...] Although you need to use a 49mm ring-mount filter before you can add the cokin P set-up, it does work with only the extreme corners vignetting. I wish the built-in hood sat flush with the end of the lens when retracted and haven't ruled out removing some of the lens hood to do this. Having said that, the vignetting can be fixed and it's only at the very extreme corners so it's much better than the results I get even from the DA*16-50 at the wide end.
[...]
I can use my singh-ray filters (including the polarizers) without having to sacrifice a good portion of the original image because of vignetting. It now comes down to whether or not I break out the hack-saw and 'fix' the lens-hood

From yesterday's play-time with the 15mm with a Singh-ray Reverse GND and Hi-Lux 49mm filter.
