I'm a pretty simple guy. If I could only have one lens for my K100D,
I'd probably just choose the Fastest. So probably the 50mm f/1.4.

Considering Im starting to shoot bands/concerts more than anything,
that's all that really matters to me. It also doubles as a nice portrait
lens. :]

I would have to say the 16-45, I love it, but I did just buy it so I might be a BIT biased.

I guess experience shows I'd pick the Tamron 18-250, since the quality is good enough for me, and it's very convenient. It's the only lens I took with me to Peru. I considered the Bigma, but size/weight was a concern for packing. Carrying it around isn't that bad, though, and I think the IQ is better than the Tamron. And I'd still have all the other advantages of an SLR, mainly the larger sensor and more manual controls.

The Sigma 24mm f 1/1.8. It's almost a 35mm on digital, fast, wide but not "Wide", quick AF and has close focusing ability (1:2.7). Great build and very good (though not stellar) IQ

Cheating!

My answer is: Sigma 17-70 F/2,8-4,5. Not because of its excellence, but its convenience.
I would, however, slip one of my Takumars (50mm F/1.4 or 105mm F/2.8) into my pocket too! They are the sharpest lenses I have.

Decisions! Decisions!

I think I would have to say, with no great conviction, my Sigma 17-70.
But then that would give no real length.Anyway, it is all hyperthetical, thankfully.

I'd like a 35mm f/1.4 lens please!

If only one lens. Then the DA40. This is a superb lens on many levels. Since it is so small maybe Ben would let us slip in another like the K or A 24mm 1:2.8.

The lens I've enjoyed most was Sigma 18-200mm, it hardly ever left Canon body. I had a very nice, sharp copy, went everywhere with me, kinda miss it...

Now if Tamron's new 18-250mm is an improvement from their prior 18-200mm, could it be the one?

Regards,
D

hmm, though one.

From the lenses that I have, I think I'd miss the Kiron 105mm 2.8 macro the most. I use it for macro, portrait and concert photography. Close call with the Pentax-A 50mm 1.7 though...

If I could choose one lens that I don't have (yet), I'd go for an FA* 80-200mm 2.8 I think.

luckily we don't have to choose between our lenses, we can have them all

For me it's the 18-55mm kit lens .... as it's the only one I have still at the moment.
So having no lens ... means no photos at all for me.

Other than that ... there's so many good lenses out there to choose from ... I could not pick one dedicated lens ... that's for sure.

I'd go with the FA 31mm f1.8 Limited.

The 35/2 M lens hasn't been off my KX in many months. That isn't my only go everywhere camera though; I also carry a little rangefinder with a 15mm lens and a 645 one with a 60mm.

In my pre-digital days, I would have chosen my 100mm macro lens since it seemed to get more use than anything else in my bag. With my K10D, I find myself using my zooms more, so I'm going to choose my 35-105. It makes a good walking around lens for the types of things I like to shoot.
