Only One Lens

Just curious..If you could have only one lens, which would it be. It is an interesting exercise.

Interesting, but irrelevant - that would likely be most of the reason we bought SLRs...

If I had to choose - I guess the 16-45 since that's what I use nearly all the time.

The answer changes every week. For the last few days, I have been using a lot my FA 20/2.8 on *ist D, so I guess the answer would be 20mm on digital and 31mm LE on film.

Cheers!

I would stick to Fa 77 ltd. Small and light. Great performer.

Looking at all the shots taken, this is my most used lens

Only one lens?

Tough one Ben. Based on my usage stats I would miss my 17-70 the most.. 80% of all my shots are within this range.

This was an easy one to answer for me.

The 50-500 Bigma.

Although I dont have the lens yet I'd have to also say the Sigma 50-500mm. I have one on order. It just seems as if it would fit what I photograph the most.

Would be a toss up between the 16-45 and my old M 55 f1.8.

Love the 55 and is a lot of fun to use but if only allowed 1 lens it has to be the 16-45 an absolutely awesome lens.

Mine would be the FA*85/1.4 because it is the best autofocus lens ever made. I don't know how long I'd like to do it, though.

Some Minoltans have been doing just this - one lens only for a month. Check it out here:
Just one prime on Dyxum.com

(The third post down has links to the individual efforts - some are stunning!)

Ben...I did not see an answer from you....
My long range zooms suck so I would not miss those. I would whine like a baby to part with my 2 wide angle zoom lenses. The toss up would be my Sigma EX 24-70 2.8 or my Pentax DFA 100 2.8 macro. I would keep the Pentax because it is my sharpest lens I have.....Quality over common sense wins this time...

80-200mm f/2.8 on a film body; 50-135mm f/2.8 on APS-c sized sensor digital body.

I'd have to keep my Vivitar S1 28-90. the 42mm-135mm fits alot of what I do plus its got a handy close focusing feature.

(I would be heartbroken losing all those primes though.)
