Non Pentax lenses cannot use "Switch dst msr pt" in K100D??

Hi

I am reading through the K100D manual as well as the magic lantern K100D guide and the manual says in Page 129 that "the AF point is fixed to the center position regardless of this setting with lenses other than DA, D FA, FA J, FA or F lenses." In essence, does that mean I cannot use the 11 multi-point focus system using third party lenses??

Does that mean if I get a sigma and/or Tamron lenses, I can only focus at the center of the viewfinder?? If this is true, I think maybe it is best to stick with pentax lenses and not third party...is this correct?

Thanks

I use the Sigma 55-200 and yes all points work fine on my *istDS - I would assume the same from the newer models.

What a relief! Thanks!!

Not sure why the pentax manual say that non-pentax lenses cannot use the 11-point AF system.

Pentax is not addressing 3rd party lenses with this statement. In fact they do not address 3rd party anything in the manual.

They are refering to earlier than "F" series Pentax lenses that are not chipped. For example M42, K, M, or A series lenses.

Hope this helps clear up your confusion.
