I wouln't
But if you are asking:
A15 is going for some odd 800GBP (K version maybe 50-100 less)
A20 - 200-250GBP
A24 - last I saw was 139
A50 - haven't seen one yet but Ks go for around 250 so add 50-100 for A
K55 - 40-65
A*85 - I saw one 3 months ago listed for 799 on page og good vendor was there only for few days
K85 - around 300
A*135 - last (and first for that matter) I saw week ago for 799

now you do your sums

IMHO an ideal manual focus set would be more or less what I use (that's why I bought 'em)

SMC Pentax-A 15mm F3.5
SMC Pentax-A 24mm F2.8
SMC Pentax-A 50mm F1.2
SMC Pentax-A* 85mm F1.4
SMC Pentax-A* 135mm F1.8
SMC Pentax-A* 200mm F2.8 ED
SMC Pentax-A* 300mm F4

Extra one to an ideal set, (if I'm allowed) would be

SMC Pentax Shift 28mm F3.5

Hey thanks!

I always felt there was something special in bargains, and this kit seems to give a real sense of that. The only downside of course, is where the M42's are bound by adapters. Though I've modified most of mine with permanent adapters in place(which is a real blessing).

Though in all of this, I really have to say... those Russian lenses have really grown on me(splendid bargains).

Here's my lineup

1. 17/4 Super-Multi-Coated Fisheye Takumar
2. 35/2 Super-Multi-Coated Takumar
3. 50/1.4 Super-Multi-Coated Takumar
4. 85/1.8 Super-Multi-Coated Takumar
5. 300/4 Super-Multi-Coated Takumar
6. 500/4.5 Super-Multi-Coated Takumar

I'm not a fan of the 135-200 lengths on APS-C, and anything below 135 is covered by the 85 in my books.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned any zooms yet. Anyway, just to throw one in there, I would recommend an A35-105/3.5 which will cover 2 through 4.

Stopped down, it is very difficult to differentiate between it and a prime.
The primes come to play when you need the extra speed.

These lists are always fun!!
My list is based on my favorite most used lenses and I added one FL range to suit my tastes as a film only user:

1. Under 20mm – K18/3.5
2. 20mm to 30mm – K28/2
3. 30mm to 50mm – K35/3.5
4. 50mm to 70mm – K50/1.2 + K55/1.8 (You must have two standard lenses)
5. 70mm to 105mm – K85/1.8
6. 125mm to 135mm – K135/2.5
7. 150mm to 200mm – K200/2.5
8. Over 200mm – K500/4.5

In addition add three specialty lenses:
K17/4 Fish-eye
K50/4 Macro
K100/4 Macro

I would rather not, too painful.

I've seen some shots from those Jupiters that have great bokeh.

That's an interesting statement, can you explain why ? I have the CZJ Electric Sonnar 135/3.5 and it's my favourite M42, very sharp & great bokeh and surprisingly even though not the fastest it does well in low light.

1. Under 30mm -A tie between K24/2.8 and a cheapo Cosina 24/2.8 (most likely same to a Vivitar)

2. 30mm to 50mm - Takumar 35/3.5 (somehow, the sharpness and rendering of this one is special for me)

3. 50mm to 70mm - M50/1.4
4. 70mm to 105mm - M85/2
5. 125mm to 135mm -135/2.5
6. 150mm to 200mm -NA (IMHO, a bit of a struggle for MF above 135mm)
7. Over 200mm -same as #6 (but A*300/4 for the size and weight)

This hardly is the perfect list and I haven't really planned this setup but this is what I've got ( I just wanted to list them). And almost all were bargains

1. S-M-C Takumar 4.5/20mm
2. Vivitar (Komine) Close Focus 2/28mm (bought cheap and converted from FD to M42)
Super-Tak 3.5/28mm (bought cheap as defective and repaired)
3. Auto-Tak 3.5/35mm (bought cheap as defective and repaired)
Super-Tak 2/35mm
4. Super-Tak 1.8/55mm
SMC Tak 1.4/50mm (bought cheap as defective and repaired)
M39(M42) Helios 44 2/58mm
M42 CZJ Biotar 2/58mm
5. M42 CZJ Biometar 2.8/80mm
M42 Cyclop 1.5/85mm (no aperture, so not very versatile. Bought together with Russian night vision device which I later sold so basically this was free)
6. M42 Meyer Optik Görlitz Orestor 2.8/135mm
7. PK Vivitar (Komine) 4.5/80-200mm (Actually have two of these. One with 58 and one with 62mm filter thread. The bigger is better.)
8. Canon L 2.8/300mm (converted from FD to PK)

For 1-3 I also have a plastic PK-A Cosina 3.5-4.5/19-35mm which I like surprisingly much
