M42 Vivitar 28/2 - sticky/oily? aperture help

i got this M42 Vivitar 28mm F2.0 lens.

The aperture blades have some kinda oil in them. Or perhaps maybe not. Maybe they're just shiny from years and years of use.

The Auto/Manual switch is discarded already.

The aperture blades actually work, but I can only stop them down to F5.6. It won't get stopped down smaller than F5.6. The blades are also sticky, meaning if you move the aperture ring, the blades won't "snap" into position, but rather "stickily slowly stop down."

I know it's a small matter. Especially beyond F5.6, i'd be better off using the kit lens instead.

But any idea if this is repairable or fubar'd?

Sounds like you have oily aperture blades. It's an easy repair.

Ralph Innes does a great job on Vivitar/Kiron lenses. He's also the least expensive repairman around.
