Tamron 18 - 250mm Where to buy!

Hi, I have recently started getting into photography and bought the Pentax
K-x after much research.

I am going on a trip to Thailand in the upcoming weeks and have finally decided to get the Tamron 18mm - 250mm. However it seems as if this lens is impossible to find. It isn't on Keh.com, Adorama.com. On amazon it is out of stock. Is there a place to get this lens?

How about a Hi-camera.net? I found the lens there but havent heard of anyone who has purchased from there.

On the other hand, the Sigma 18mm - 250mm is widely available. But it seems as if it is highly disliked by many places and have read many bad things about it compared to the Tamron here on pentax fourms.

Thank you fellow Pentax owners!

Is this the Tamron that you are looking for? B&H is showing it in stock for less than $300 with a $60 rebate. This is the "XR" model that is not as well reviewed as the other 18-250 Tamron but looks like a good deal for the money.

No that is the 18-200 model you have linked to. 18-200 apparently is softer pretty much throughout the whole range compared to the 18-250 and especially worse at the edges.

This is the 18-250 link (B&H) and is out of stock "temporarily not available" and discontinued if I heard correctly.

The Tamron 18-250mm and its sibling Pentax DA18-250mm are both excellent lenses but become rare.

Try the 2nd hand market, second hand shops like keh.com, or ebay.com. Search both Tamron and Pentax 18-250mm to expand your options.

Listed as new, there are a couple of Tamron 18-250mm on ebay.com although I do not know the retailer.

Hope that the comment will help...

I dunno: +/- $350 US? You can research the prices of recent sales on eBay. But even though I don't use it much, mine is worth way more than that to me: it's just unbeatable when you want to go light but be prepared for just about anything (except low-light conditions--stick a fast prime in your pocket to cover that contingency.)

Apparently only the Pentax DA 18-250mm has in-camera lens correction by the K-x, whereas the Tamron version does not, according to this post.

I paid $340.00 USD for mine. I seen one on eBay a couple days ago. Might want to check there as others suggested.

Tomwil brings up an interesting point. I have the DA18-250mm and I originally set up the camera with in-camera lens distortion correction.

Now, I switch off the in-camera lens correction and I prefer to do it during PP: either with PDCU, or with PTLens for serious distortion correction. Why? I use often the Hi continuous shooting and the lens distortion correction is restricting the number of shots per sequence.
