Quick Filter Question

Would I really need a slim CPL filter on a Sigma 17-70mm OS HSM lens? I would like to use my original lens cap, but I do want to avoid vignetting around 17mm.

I am trying to decide between the
B+W 72mm Kaeseman Circular Polarizing Multi-Resistant Coating (MRC) Glass Filter (Slim) [part no. 66-025842] and the regular sized same filter [part no. 66-045619].

Thanks,
Ed

I do not experience Vignetting on my regular sized UV filter wide open. If it did have vignetting then it was negligible and this negligibility could be easily fixed in edition. Get the regular one, God knows how expensive filters are

The Hoya or Kenko Pro1D filters are slim and have front threads. I'm using a 77mm Kenko on a Sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6 at 10mm without issue. The Kenko Pro1D is also comparatively inexpensive.

The Hoya place 7th in the lenstip.com CPL filter testing. The Kenko placed 4th. Summary here.

Thank you
Russell

Thanks. Based on the lenstip.com review I ordered the Marumi DHG Super Circular P.L.D 72 mm instead of the B+W; same ranking, half the price.

Hi everyone,

Would it be possible to upload a photo of cover of the Marumi DHG Super? I'm seeing $20 for 52mm on Ebay, and would like to ensure I receive an actual, non-fake copy

Thanks!

The biggest tell would be that a Marumi Super DHG has unique grayish-green lettering on the side. Lesser lines have other colors, usually white.
