SMC Takumar 85mm 1.9 - How much?

Hi there

Could someone tell me how much the 85mm 1,9 Super Multi Coated is currently going for in Europe? As I understand the lens is extremely rare. I have to sell some of my takumars to fund a Sigma 100-300 4,0 I got on ebay ...without asking my wife .
Don`t really wan`t to sell this beauty, just checking my options.

Thanks in advance

Check the Ebay completed listings section.

My guess is roughly 30 Euros BUY-IT-NOW. PM me when you list it, thanks.

Just because you're good humored...

They go for roughly 250-275 USD on Ebay in excellent to mint condition with hood. That would mean a net profit to you of roughly $210-235 after Ebay fees. You can sell it here on the market place for about $215-240 net profit after the $10 required donation.

In Europe, I'd imagine you'd be able to make a bit more thanks to the exchange rate. Again, Ebay completed listings search is your friend.

Think about:

With all due respect to Sigma, do you really want to sell THAT lens to buy one?

I'm in the same boat. I went retarded on Friday buying a 35 2 Super-Tak that my wife has yet to know about.

Thought about selling my kidney instead, but I guess I fetch more money from the lens,

lucky you as your wife seems more forgiving.

Who cares if someone can't appreciate the Taks? Someone else definitely will.

No such thing as "toomanytakumars." Only too few.

Still not sure about the 85mm, guess I will just sell the doubles first and see how much is missing- donīt wanne be greedy.
seriously I running out of arguments. try to explain your wife that the 500 4,5 SMC is a different lens than the 500 mm 4,5 Super Tak or why you need 2x 400mm SMC (got the second one by lets say mistake on ebay).

Anyway thanks for all your comments, better I stop it here, otherwise I buy just more lenses.

The last one I have seen was Super Takumar 85/1.9 in ffordes. Price tag was Ģ199. It sat there for a while, but after month or so it sold. Currently there is SMC T 85/1.8 with "small chip on front element" in one shop in London and they are asking Ģ249 for it.

Those are the latest prices I know for these lenses, hope it helps.

someone correct me if I am wrong, but I do not believe there is an 85mm SMC Takumar F1.9

I believe the SMC version is F1.8 and the super tak is F1.9

I have a super tak F1.9 and I think there is one in the market place also,.

You are correct on a technicality in that there is a Super-Multi-Coated 85mm f1.9 AND a Super-Multi-Coated 85mm f1.9. The hyphens matter on these lenses. The optical formula is different in the 2 with the S-M-C f1.8 being 6/6. There aren't that many SMC Taks ironically whereas most focal lengths had an S-M-C model.

Thanks Blue, but how would you rank them? I often see those Auto Takumar 85mm f1.8 and they go for a handsome amount. I've heard that they're inferior to even the S-Tak 1.9 but since they resemble the SMC 85mm f1.8, people go bananas and over pay for them. Is that true?

The Auto Takumar and S-M-C 85mm f1.8 Taks are 2 completely different lenses. The Auto Tak has a 4/5 formula (groups/elements) while the S-M-C has a 6/6. In addition to that the A.T. has a different diaphragm and of course there is the coatings. The Super Tak and S-M-C f1.9 also have the 4/5 arrangement. I suspect the prices of the Auto Taks have gone through the roof because Canon idiots etc. have no clue about these differences. That said, the Auto Taks are coated and with an appropriate hood actually do quite well. We won't talk about the 83mm Tak because people with the A* and S-M-C lenses will cry.

Edit: These aren't mine but here are some Auto Tak 85mm examples.

No, this is not what I meant. I thought the super multi coated were all F1.8's and the super tak's were F1.9's
