Price question on Pentax-A 50mm 1.7

Is $55 shipped a reasonable price for one of these?

Assuming the optics are clean and mechanics are good, that is a very good price for that lens.

That's what I thought. Thanks!

I paid $70 for a clean, mechanically and cosmetically great used A-50 1.7 in a camera shop, and thought it was a good deal. $55 is great if it's in good shape.

great deal

Yeah, it's a great deal, but make sure it communicates properly and is optically clean (haze, fungus, mold, scratches, etc.). This lens can go for up to $100 depending on the condition.

They claim it's clean and works properly. So I'm going to take the plunge. Thanks for the help!

Hm, got one for my brother on eBay for like $45 in January, have the prices gone through the roof again?

I believe I sold one here in February for $90. But I had great photos!

A few years ago, I won an eBay auction titled "Pentax parts". The description was "parts is parts". A blurry cell-phone photo showed they were lens parts. I paid $12 including shipping. The parts included enough to reassemble 2 Pentax-A 50mm f1.7s, a flash, a TC and about half of an A50/2.

So a little followup on the lens. It arrived today and it's in pretty good shape. Focus is smooth and it came with a Vivitar Skylight(1A) filter on it. Looks good cosmetically too.

The only thing is the Aperture ring sticks a bit when I try to twist it with my hand. The blades open and close. Turning the ring when the lens isn't attached to a camera can difficult sometimes for me with small lenses. Maybe the ring won't stick once I attach it to my K-x.

Don't mess with the aperture ring at all - it's notoriously fragile on this lens. Leave it in "A" position permanently and you're better off on all counts.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll put it in 'A' mode tonight after I attach it to my K-x.

I paid about $60 for one in perfect condition and it came with a Pentax MG with winder grip and a Kenko UV filter.
