Lens Hood For Tamron

I have just purchased a second hand Tamron 18-250mm lens, unfortunately it came without a lens hood. Now since I don't like taking photo's without a lens hood, can any one recommend a decent lens hood for this lens. I have read that the one that normally comes with this lens is a petal shaped hood, but this can some times will cast a shadow onto the lens. I have considered a 3 stage rubber lens hood, has anyone had any experience with this type of hood and basically are they any good? Or which lens hood would you recommend?

The staged rubber hoods are usually no good- I've gone through quite a few and have never ended up leaving any permanently on my lenses. I'd recommend getting the petal-shaped hood, as it's optimized for your lens (although obviously for the wider end).

Thanks for the info, 2 more things, the only petal shaped hoods I have found appear to be screw mounted, will I still be able to attach a screw-on filter or my lens cap with the hood still attached?

And I know that this lens is basically the same as the pentax 18-250mm so would a Pentax bayonet fitting fit?
And if so where would one purchase one of these hoods.

Thanks

If you are in the US, why not get the real thing?

Yeah, I agree. I just went through this with the DA 17-70mm. I hate the looks of that darn petal hood though. I feel like I have a flower pot for artificial flowers on the end of the lens and keep looking around for Mrs. Daisey to show up.
