These are defished, right? In your photos it looks like 16mm on the fisheye has a similar width to to 12mm on the rectilinear lens, but the specs from Pentax say 100 degrees for both the 10-17 at 17 mm and the 12-24 at 24 mm.
Nothing is defished or otherwise changed. That would defeat the comparison and the lens :-)

Any 1:1 macro lens can double as a decent to great portrait lens. The Vivitar S1 and Lester A Dine take amazing portraits.

The rounded aperture blades don't actually mean it has superior background blur. It's not like my Bokina has ugly octagonal bokeh just because it has 8 straight blades.

So my all metal Voightlander 40mm is also FA 77 if I take a few steps forward?

No... but it was a Pentax Voightlander 40mm, then it would. I suggest you use a permanent magic marker and write "Pentax" in front of your lens and I guarantee you it will be perfectly the same as the FA 77.

Oh and one last thing, I love my DFA 100mm WR! WOOOOO!!!!!

I'm out

Oh dear, can people just chill on this? What I know from personal experience is that there are many ways to get great macro...

The DA35 is the perfect flower lens and is a small all-round wonder:

The Vivi Series 1 105mm is built like a tank and has incredibly precise focus no other lens can match (makes it a pain for tele use though):

Or you can simply stick a converter on an FA77:

Reversing lenses or using a coupling ring gets "ginormous" magnification a standard macro cannot reach, costs very little, but is very difficult to control and needs tons of light.

Plus I am convinced (without having used them) that the Tamron 90mm, Tokina AT-X 90 and Pentax 100mm are incredible lenses. Lots to choose from.

I just noticed the typo I made in my original post. I meant to say "the specs from Pentax say 100 degrees for both the 10-17 at 17 mm and the 12-24 at 12 mm."

It's amazing how little distortion you have in those fisheye photos. The 10-17 doesn't look any more distorted than the 12-24mm.

Don't want to jack the thread away from macro lenses, but you can see the bend in the vertical strips on the side of the building in the fisheye shots. They are straight with the 12-24. That's one reason I chose that building (the other is it's across the alley from my apartment)..

There are 2 straight lines with a fisheye - vertical and horizontal through the center. Line it up right and it can look pretty square...
