As I said once before, primes are when you are shooting alone; zooms are when you are travelling with someone else and want to be still on speaking terms at dinner.

agreed!!!

also, i don't know about other kids out there but my niece and nephew don't sit still for a second so while i have no problems using my legs to zoom by the time i get in the right spot to take a shot they are already gone...

I know it won't help but after using the DA 40, all my other lenses just feels super cheap by comparison (except Takumars)

I compared my Super-Takumar 35mm 3.5 with the DA 40mm, and in normal situations I must say... it's either a draw or the DA 40mm has a very slight optical advantage.

I would keep de DA40mm lens. It's great for just walk-arounds and you can enjoy it for years to come. Maybe sell some older lenses you own.

Ditto... and if you find that the 17-70 puts the 40 out to pasture, sell it. A lens is only good if you use it.

I would be more likely to sell a zoom for a DA 40mm I recently got down to no AF zooms and currently only have the DA 17-70. If I had to pick between it and my DA 21 or DA 35mm, it would loose.

I would agree with the point made that if you aren't using a lens, then sell it. The DA40 is well regarded and I have considered getting one but I keep going back to the same question, will I use it that often?
