Which lens should i buy ?

Hello, and good day to you all.
I am new to this forum.
I wanted to know your opinions which lens should i purchase.
I want a lens that is sharp and produces good IQ.
I would prefer a zoom lens. I was looking at the DA* series and here what i was thinking
Get the 50-135mm first. Then get the 16-50mm, but i am having trouble, since i heard they have some issues SDM, something like that. I own a K-7 if that changes anything. I was also looking at the 60-250mm, is it better then the 50-135mm , in terms of IQ? Should i buy a prime, or zoom in the 16-50mm range ,since i heard the 16-50mm IQ is good or better then some prime lens.. I like the weather sealing since i enjoy nature and wildlife/landscape photography. I would appreciate all of your opinions and feedbacks, thanks. A.M.

Welcome! I've moved your thread to the lens forum, as this seems to be a welcome thread rather than just an intro.

2 Lenses you should give serious thought about, DA 12-24 and DA 17-70. Both are very good general purpose lenses for nature/landscape. As for the primes, you cannot go wrong with any limited, either FA or DA but me personally I prefer zooms (but this is mainly due to the fact that I cannot afford 7 limited primes, or else I'd shoot nothing but primes).

Okay i see, i know to me the primes seem great but price is hard to justfy buying 5,6,7 primes for a good overall zoom. the 17-70mm what is the comparison between 16-50mm? I am coming from a 16-45mm, how big is the IQ overall?

16-45 and 17-70 are quite similarly placed as IQ, slightly better than the kit lens. Supposedly one could get better and faster IQ AND weather sealing with the f2.8 zooms (16-50, 50-135, 60-250) but I am quite reluctant to buy due to potential SDM problems (also they are too expensive out of the store here in Romania)

My advice is stay with the 16-45, which is a good, balanced lens, and get the F/FA/DA 50mm f1.4 or F1.7, DA 70mm and the DFA 100mm WR.

Personally, I went for the FA Limited trio FA 31mm, 43mm, 77mm since shooting Pentax is all about the "magic" primes. If you are not professional and have some money to invest in a hobby, I recommend you do the same.

For bad weather I would recommend the WR kit.

I shoot with,
12-24, sweet, crisp, solid, magnificent colors and contrast, worth every penny.
16-50, nice, solid, sharp, good colors, no problems with SDM so far, solid performer.
60-250, damn good color/contrast, on par with my SMC A70-210 f4. heavy, fast focus.Sweet
55-300 ,best bang for the buck, sharp, good colors, contrast for not much money. Long focus throw.
I have no experience with 50-135.

I am a zoom guy, obviously.
edit, 16-50 is useless at night when shooting towards bright, large lights. The last element creates nasty sensor reflections.
That is the only flaw I have found with it.

the 16-45 is already very good. I can't see any reason you should step up unless you need an extra speed which I would recommend a 17-50/2.8 Sigma and a 70-200/2.8 Sigma.
