A recently purchased SMC Tak 135 f2.5 is in need of repair. The aperure ring won't move, is stuck at f2.5 and the Auto/Manual switch only partially moves. Infinity focus point turns up at about mid way on the focus scale so I'm also missing the closer focus range. At the moment I think about 2 metres is my closest focussing point. Naturally I'd be most appreciative for any tips on how to rectify these problems. This is M42 Serial number 5465759

Taks are known to be well-built and therefore 'easy' to repair. Have a google and find people having documented their own repair of this lens or similar ones. You'll want to get a little equipment (small screwdrivers, lens spanner). Latex gloves are a good idea. You'll need lighter fluid to clean the aperture.
If you feel intimidated by the task at hand, like me, train yourself first on a junk lens you'll find for 10$ anywhere.
My last repair was on a Jupiter 21M that is a joy now. Before that one, I fixed my M 4/200 (blocked aperture transmission) in 10 (ten) minutes all included :-)
