I have this combo, and I just don't use it enough. I need to force myself to use this lens in the near future. I seem to reach more naturally for my FA35 (more general-purpose focal length) or my FA77 (tighter head-and-shoulders portraits, which I like) instead of the F50/1.7.

But to answer your question, yes, it is a great combination.
I agree, I love love love my F 50mm/1.7 but find it to long in the places I really want to use it. I am longing for sigma 30mm f/1.4. But the F50/1.7 is a phenomenal lens...

i'm also looking into this lens- I have a 28mm sigma 1.7 macro, which is huge and heavy-i'm looking at the pentax m 28mm's f2.8, but I would really value having an extra couple of f stops at such wide angle
