faster than 16-45

Looking to fins something faster than the 16-45 I now have. Most of the reviews of the 16-50 are older so not sure of the present overall opinion/review of it. Comments on that welcomed. Also what would be suggestion for non pentax lenses.

To further the discussion looking at the 50-135 - love that range,-- or maybe a replacement for my 55-300. Suggestions outside the pentax brand welcomed.

Want to get more towards the 2.8 such speed

Tamron 17-50/2.8 & Sigma 18-50/2.8 macro & non macro are your third party options. They are relatively cheap & light.

I have the Tamron 17-50mm & am happy with it, besides the cheap/plastic build quality. To be honest, if I were to do it again i'd probably steer clear of the Tamron. I've heard of people choosing the Sigma for the macro function, but it's a bit pricier.

Da* 16~50/2.8

I think most of the problems we have seen with the DA* 16~50/2.8 have been cleared up by now. I certainly hope so as I just bought one a few months ago. So far I'm very happy with this lens. Image and build quality are top notch. My only complaint is more barrel distortion at 16mm than I would like.

Lately I havent hard of problems with SDM faults on DA*s so much. Every now and then odd one out pops up nothing much. It seems most of them are rectified now.
But since I have no experience with any of these zooms I'm of no use here
