Pentax, give us fast legendary WR limiteds.

Pentax,

We love your limited lenses. Especially the FA limiteds because they're faster, they are full frame (just in case that ever happens), and they're wicked sharp.

However some of us are holding back on buying them for an assortment of reasons. We're tired of dust in the lens. We shoot in the rain and the desert sands. We want to be able to shoot with them anywhere.

I personally don't care if you call them DFA, DA*, Limited holy crap WR, or whatever. Just give us the option of full frame capable super high quality weather sealed primes to replace the primes we already can't get enough of.

I'd personally like to see the following:
31mm/1.8 or 1.4, 85mm/1.4 50mm/1.2, and something exceptionally legendary, like a 250-600/5.6. or a 135/1.8

These aren't new optical formulas for you. Just add some WR, and in some cases AF to these lenses and sell them to us. I personally prefer the SDM, but it's not a dealbreaker.

We're here and we will buy them. Hook us up!

I just wonder how many is "we".

The idea of having 31/1.8 + 50/1.2 + 85/1.4 (1.8 would be finee by me) and 135/1.8 and personaly I'd add 24mmm too, all FF capable, WRed and AF (SDM or screw) would VERY tempting but: look at how many people moan about the price of FAltds, I got lucky with my 31 & 43 but no such luck (yet) on 77 and hobbyst like me can't afford to spend 750GBP on new lens just like that... now add WR and SDM, keep metal build and f stop speed coupled with FF capability and the 77 would eesily go up 850-900 IMO and 31 around 1.2k....50/1.2??? around 1k too... so it's nice to dream but for the moment we have top quality glass that costs a bit, first they need to finish thee line up, then put out some cheapish lenses to keep new comers/hobbysts/amateurs interested and just then they should start thinking about upgrading the top of the line lensees... although knowing Pentax, they will do something fairly unxpected....

IMO what we need are DFA* remakes of the FA* series- generally the same optics, but more rugged barrels.

Just so long as they're WR, I'm game.

I would pay a premium for a SMC A* 70-210 f 2,8 SDM or what ever next in line for focus motor.

I would rather buy a 645D than buy more 35mm glass...I have enough as it is.

I think Pentax should move to make all their lenses WR.

There need to be options for people -- WR for those who want/need/are willing to pay for it and non WR lenses for those who aren't. Nothing comes free and when WR is added, it increases the price of the lens (even if the actual cost isn't that much more).

I strongly believe that Pentax should build on their growing reputation as a "field" company, and keep releasing lenses as WR. The 55-300 would be an obvious choice (and me an obvious buyer), and the Limiteds should be WR too.

I'd love to be able to leave home with only my K20D and DA 21 WR...

I think there is a good market WR lenses. If the option to buy WR FA and DA Limiteds were available, I bet most people would gravitate to that option. I won't have anything to do with SDM so that pretty much leaves me with WR versions of entry level glass. It would be so nice to take my best lenses out in the pouring rain and other situations where non WR gear fears to tread while all the Canikons take cover. WR is a great niche for Pentax and they need to exploit it more.

Somehow I am of the believe that the less features a lens have, the longer it can last. Hence, I have no interest in WR, SDM etc. I just want good optics in a solid construction. The FA limiteds and manual lenses (especially the A(*)series) are as good as how lenses can be built at a reasonable price (in case people mention Leica) imho.

Just don't take the aperture ring away to do it, as they did with the 100mm macro.

The FA77 Ltd on an LX body is a thing of beauty on several levels.

A DFA 100 WR Macro on the WR LX body would have been terrific.

Full frame has happened--just not in Pentax digital. There are many of us out there with film kits (as well as digital) who adore these lenses.

WR goes a long way to help "solid construction" It doesn't make the lens more complicated, just sealed tighter.
