This lens is just awesome. The ability to go to 16mm alone makes it much better than the kit lens. Add weather sealing, silent focusing, constant f/2.8 and incredible sharpness and microcontrast, and this package is hard to beat! The best (and cheapest!) normal zoom of any brand, IMHO, and one of the main reasons why I chose Pentax.

Here are some recent snaps from a hiking trip a couple of days ago. I was in a group so not much time for any serious photography. Very strong sunlight on this particular day as well.

John - Can't believe nobody has commented on your Father and Son yet. That is one of the best photos I have ever seen on this forum.

Thanks Jack and Kalison. The photo has special meaning for me - the subjects are the husband and son of my dearly departed cousin....
