I wouldn't trade this lens for any other. Looking at pictures made by it convinced me to pay the extra bit over the Tamron and Sigma. Just looking to add the 50-135 to my collection

Thanks! They were taken in the desert around Dubai. It was the first time I'd ever been into a desert and it was really beautiful. It was September 2009 and whilst the temperture in Dubai itself was a horendous 40 something (and stupidly humid) the desert was dry and fresh feeling despite being about 32.

The wind coming across the sand dunes was a wonderful feeling, and the coarseness of the grains meant the sand didn't get up in your face or anything. it was an amazing orange colour.

At that point in time I was still using my DS (the other shots were with the K-7) and I had a UV filter on to stop the front element getting sand blasted!

Here are a couple more:

I agree about the quality of this lens. I think it's imaging charms are hard to capture in objective tests, and indeed in web-sized jpgs for that matter

, and so it's reputation isn't nearly as good as it perhaps should be.

That building is the Taj Mahal. Another aspect of the lens that I really like is the gorgeous colors it reproduces, which I attempted to show in the second photo, which is of a garden inside Port Arthur, infamous convict prison in Tasmania, and site of a massacre which led to the banning of firearms in Australia. Thanks for the nice comments about the Taj photo.

Share several photos taken w/ 16-50 recently in Muir Woods National Monument. I have use this lens mostly in the past two months since I got it.
Sometime I wish the long end is 70mm though.

Some areas over-exposed and there is some PF which I haven't figure out how to remove them in LR.

Very nice photos. The 16-50 is my walk around lens also, and I love it. I'm basically lazy when it comes to post processing, so what I do in LR 3 is in the develop module, I turn the purple saturataion down to zero.

@LFLee: I particularly like the way you captured the light shining through the foliage. I have a similar shot, unfortunately, there was also a bit of flare hotspots which appear to have been caused by water droplets hitting my filter.

Thanks Selar for the kind words. Your falls shot is a difficult one as the dynamic range is so high across. Reflections of dust on the lens do creates problems sometime! :-)

I found it difficult to select WB and aperture in the woods, + the high DR always create problems to select the right exposure. There are many ppl in the park which makes it difficult to use tripod and the HDR function.

I like the DA*16-50 flexibility, though it doesn't handle flare very well - couldn't point towards the sunlight directly. I bet the DA15ltd would give better results.

The 16-50mm knocked it out of the park when I was in upstate New York camping on the Saranac lakes. Especially in the driving rain, on a fishing boat. :-) SO happy I went Pentax. WR is the best thing ever. There are more shots on my flickr, including ones from the X100.

To be honest I liked the 16-50 on the K10d but never enjoyed it with my K20d but on the K-5, wow!

Just went to Disney World and honestly, this was on my camera 90 percent of the time. Particularly, because my wife really likes telephotos, but also it is just a great walk around range.
