EOL 80-200 f/2.8 in favour of 50-135 f/2.8

is there anyone old enough to remember Pentax rationale for the move at that time?

50-135 * 1.5x APS-C crop = 80-200

But some of us like the extra length for portraits because the bokeh is different...

And others will prefer the smaller form factor of the 50-135
Sigma did the same when they released their 50-150, the difference being that they still have a FF 70-200 in their line up...

You don't have to be particularly old. The rational given at the time (about two years ago) is that the 50-135mm has about the same FOV range on APS-C as the classic 70-210mm (or 80-200mm) zooms for 35mm film cameras.
