vivitar number 1 series 28-105mm 1:2.8 3.8 and pentax K-x

Hi
I got a vivitar number 1 series 28-105mm 1:2.8 3.8 macro lens.

There are two little suspicious pins that make me concerned.
Can this lens get stuck on the Pentax k-x ?
If so, how can I best alter the lens to make it work?

Thanks

Could you post a picture of the mount end? Does the aperture ring have an A setting?

After searching a bit more on the internet I found this post theatre of noise: Ricoh Lenses On Pentax Cameras -- The Ricoh Pin Fix

It clearly shows the pin of concern. This is a Ricoh pin issue.
I decided to remove it and already did so. Everything went fine. It was actually quite easy to remove.
Just open the four screws and remember the positions.
Then lift the ring just enough so you can pull the pins spring mechanism down and the pin flew out by itself.
I put the pin into a tape and keep it in case I decide to restore its function.

The lens seems to work fine except the auto Aperture is not working.
The macro pictures are very nice.

For everyone else who reads this.

Don't put this lens onto your pentax K-x before removing the pin. Your lens might get stuck.

Thanks for your interest.

I tested this lens on an autofocus teleconverter to see if it would get stuck and didn't have any problems. I then tested it on my k10 and k20 and have used the lens a couple dozen times and with no problems.

I believe there are a few different style ricoh pins, some rounded and some flat on the end. The pin on my copy is rounded and has never caused a problem. Oh and the A setting works perfect on my copy, not sure it that has anything to do with the pin?

The pin on my lens was thin and dull ending.

I got a Samyang lens 70-210mm with a rounded pin which never caused a problem ether.
I took the time today and removed this pin as well just to be sure.

The A function on the Samyang still works though. I guess this has nothing to do with it.

I think it is no big deal taking the pin out and keeping them save in case I want to restore the function.

Better save than to be sorry.
