Sigma 18-250 or Pentax/Tamron 18-250?

I'm looking to get one of these two lenses, but I'm having trouble find comparisons. The little I know has left me split...The Tamron/Pentax is lighter & smaller which I see as a big benefit. But the Sigma has OS (will that even work for me since my KX has in-body IS?). Any input is appreciated!

The Tamron/Pentax 18-250mm and Sigma 18-250mm OS HSM are two intersting all-around lenses. There are pros and cons for both systems:

*Tamron 18-250mm/Pentax DA18-250mm
Pros
- An excellent lens, very well respected for its quality and solidity (like any long zoom, the lens is not perfect but the IQ is reasonable)
- used by some professionals
- robust lens
- relatively compact and light
- DA18-250mm: lens distortion correction in-camera (K-x, K-7)
Cons
- the DA18-250mm is no longer available; need to be purchased 2nd hand

* Sigma 18-250mm OS HSM
Pros
- is available in K-mount
- good reports from the lens in terms of optics (possibly similar to Tamron 18-250mm, although no comparative tests yet available)
- OS in lens allows to have stabilised image in viewfinder

Cons
- Price
- Weight
- HSM makes it less sturdy
- OS is not needed since the Pentax have IS in-camera (In fact you'll need to switch off the camera IS because it does nto work well with the lens OS)

In response to your query:
- both lenses are good,
- DA18-250mm is no longer available
- OS is no real advantage for the Sigma but it increases its price tag.

If you can find a good quality, cheaper 2nd hand Tamron or Pentax, go for it: I have a DA18-250mm and I am impressed by it solidity and compactness. Alternately the Sigma is definitely worth to consider but more expensive.

SLR Gear has reviews of both. The Tamron/Pentax seems a bit stronger optically. One thing they don't mention is colour rendition. The Sigma has a warmer colour rendition, a bit toward the yellow side. The Tamron/Pentax is cooler, more like other Pentax lenses. I have a definite preference for this cooler rendition.
