diagonal out of focus lines w/ da*200 and *300 lenses?

Hi,

I have both the da*200 and da*300mm lenses, and both show strange diagonal lines in out of focus area. Is this just part of the design of the lenses, or do both have alignment problems? Anyone else notice this or have a solution? Seems kind of odd for expensive lenses.

only a UV filter on the lens, and removing it doesn't change the lines.

i did use the search function in the forums, but couldn't find any references.

thanks!

I think I see what you mean in the bokeh. No, can't say I ever noticed that kind of consistant strips using my da*300/4 EXCEPT some uglier bokeh like the last sample when I use a teleconverter. The bare lens has beautiful bokeh. I normally shoot at f5.6-8.

I found such OOF effects with a combination of specific distances and arperture setting. It might take a bit of trial and error to learn which combinations cause this and how to avoid it. But this can occur with pretty much any lens.

This is certainly not good... You should know that the OOF circles have patterns in them of something that's directly in front of or inside the lens itself (for instance dust particles can be seen in the OOF circles). The OOF circles should be opaque without any diagonal lines.

Are you sure that removing the UV filter does not seem to cure this problem? I have a hard time believing that both lenses could be defective.

DA* 300mm oof lines

the 300mm is much worse, but i see lines in the 200mm also. those are horizontal and less sharp, but there. it's the 300 that really shows. removing the filter has no effect on the problem.

i guess i should go ahead and ship it off to service while the warranty's in effect.
