17mm f/4 Fish-Eye Takumar yellow filter faded?

Hi, I have purchased 17mm Fish-Eye Takumar on the auction site, and when it came-in I noticed that built-in yellow filter is not really yellow. There seems to be no color difference between UV and Yellow. Seller claims that he is the original owner, and it wasn't that yellow to begin with, lens was never repaired and yellow just faded in time.
I was wondering whether it sounds real, because I have never seen faded yellow filter, even though yellow is not very strong color. I don't know if I should keep the lens or send it back.It is in excellent condition otherwise. I paid $282.

There's a slight possibility that the factory inadvertently put two UV filters inside. Anyway, it would not be a dealbreaker for me. Would you really use the yellow filter?

If you want to use it for a weeks and then put it in the marketplace here if you don't like it, I'll buy it from you for that price. They're selling for more these days, and that's one I've been drooling over.

Thanks guys. I will keep it then. I use yellow filter because I shoot B&W film often.

I have this lens - Fisheye-Takumar. The built-in yellow filter is yellow. There is a clear difference between it and the built-in UV filter. Pictures taken with it also verify this. Did you actually take any pictures to verify? Hope it helps.

No, actually I just received it yesterday, so I didn't have a chance. But I saw photos of the lens online and it looks different on mine. I will try to shoot some this week.

Also you can cut a piece of lighting gel and slip it in the holder on the back. It took me a couple of years to figure that out!

Yes is is a filter holder.

I buy lighting gels from Film Tools in Burbank, CA, cut them up and use them. One sheet will supply about 400 lenses. They must have several hundred colors to choose from too! Sorry,

I threw all my excess away. I only kept a couple of dime size pieces of three shades of dark orange.
