PENTAX Sigma 28mm f/2.8 KA MACRO MC Mini-Wide II

I just snagged this on ebay. I didn't see it in the reviews (not the macro II version anyway). I got into a heated bidding war and ended up winning it for $100 (shipping included). Decent deal? Anyone here have this lens?

You're right. I missed it. Probably not a great deal but I don't think that these come up for auction that often. Hopefully it is a good copy. Thanks.

Yes, you paid about $30-40 more than it's worth. Otherwise, an excellent lens.

I bought one new back in the day and still have it. I also have a Pentax A 28mm F2.8. One of these days I plan on doing a shootout between them. The Sigma does seem pretty decent, and has more aperture blades than the Pentax (6 vs 5 IIRC.) I don't need both and have to decide which to sell... so maybe one more will show on the marketplace complete with original caps and manual.

Price is a bit high, but it is a great lens. Use it and you will quickly get your money's worth!

Yeah price is a bit high, picked one up for $30 a few weeks ago. Thought it was a pretty good price even though I didn't need it

I've got it. I'm quite happy with the images I've gotten out of it.

The thing I dislike about it is the aperture ring. It's obviously where they decided to cut costs: plastic, not at all smooth to turn. Not a big deal if you're putting it on a dslr where you can set it on A and control via dial.

But I'm still a film shooter and that crappy aperture ring is probably why I'll eventually get rid of the lens.

EDIT: Here are a couple of images shot with it.

I've never used my mini-wde off the "A" position. On film, I like the Pentax M 28/3.5 better. The latter never quite works for me on digital; maybe the f.3.5 with the little viewfinder. The Sigma, I like a lot on digital.
