Sigma 28-70mm f2.8 EX DG lens

Does anyone have this lens and can recommend it. I'm looking
for a very sharp mid-range lens that I can do landscapes and
general photography. Also, does it work well as a macro.
I have and love my Sigma 50mm 2.8 eX macro lens, so I have
my macro needs happily covered. I just thought the 28-70 might
give me more range to mix in landscapes and general photography.
Any suggestions. P.S. The price seems really good too.
Freddy

From what I gather, the Tamron 28-75 seems to be a better performer. That's why I have ordered one and am waiting for it to arrived. You can check the reviews for either lenses in the lens review section of Pentaxforums, photozone, slrgear, etc.

Regards,

Peter

I have a recent Tamron 28-75 and am very happy with it. Sharp and lightweight for the f2.8. It stays on my camera a lot.

the Sigma 24-70 might be a better alternative.

I saw some samples of photos taken with Pentax 16-45 F4 ED AL smc zoom
and decided I want that one. It's a real beauty.
A few more dollars saved and I'm buying it. Might buy it used if I could find
a reputable source.
Thanks for your comments. Freddy
